2. Music Theory, Key Signature & Harmonic Voice-Leading

From a rigorous music theory perspective, "Concert Etude in E Minor on a Theme of Super Mario Sunshine" is established in the serious, noble tragic pathos of D Minor (centered around B-flat), celebrated by masters from Bach to Mozart for austere grandeur. It is cast in graceful triple meter (3/4 time), channeling a buoyant waltz and minuet lilt where each measure pivots on an expressive, dancing downbeat with an authentic metronome benchmark calibrated at 80 BPM. The harmonic backbone of this arrangement is propelled by an expressive chord progression incorporating Dm, Dm, G, C, F, E7. These harmonic voicings establish a cohesive cycle of harmonic tension, deceptive cadences, and satisfying tonic resolutions. Keyboardists can utilize these exact chord symbols for both classical voice-leading and contemporary pop or jazz lead-sheet harmonization, ensuring seamless hand transitions throughout each phrase transition.
